Reports
/report and the pause menu button, and the staff tab that handles them.
Players report someone with /report in chat, or the Report a Player button on the pause menu. Staff see the report on the Reports tab, with evidence the server adds itself. Nobody else ever knows a report happened.
Sending a report
/reportin any chat channel opens the report form./report bobopens it with Bob already picked, if only one player's name matches. Nothing is posted in chat.- Report a Player on the pause menu does the same. It's there for console players and anyone who doesn't know the command. It's a normal pause menu button, just above Exit, and shows while reports are switched on.
The form is one window: a Player dropdown (everyone online, in name order, so there's no typing names), a Reason dropdown (the reasons you set), and What happened (a short text). Then Send. If the player or reason isn't chosen, the form comes back with what they already filled in.
The player who sent it gets a thank you and the report's reference, like RPT-7K3QX9, so they can quote it if they ask staff about it later. The player who was reported is never told, and no other player sees anything.
To stop spam, a player can send one report every 2 minutes, and can't report the same person again for 10 minutes. You can change both.
What staff get
Every report has a unique reference (RPT- and six letters and numbers) that stays with it everywhere: the Reports tab, the admin log, Discord and the player's record. That makes it easy to find one report later and follow what happened to it.
Each report shows who was reported and who reported them: names and platforms for every staff member who handles reports, plus their Steam ID and Bohemia GUID for staff who can see IDs in game (See GUIDs and Steam IDs, view_identities). Discord gets both players' IDs.
The server adds the evidence when the report is made, so nobody has to take anyone's word for it:
- Where they were: the map grid of the reported player and how far they were from the reporter, and whether they were in a vehicle.
- Their last kills: up to five, with the weapon, distance, headshots and team kills.
- Their history: warnings, kicks, bans and earlier reports on their player record.
Staff who can see it get a pop-up the moment it comes in. It also goes:
- in the admin log (monitoring),
- on the reported player's record as Reported,
- to Discord, if you switch on Player reported on the Notifications tab. Give it a webhook to a staff only channel.
The Reports tab
It needs See player reports (handle_reports), moderators and up to start with. Open reports are listed first, newest at the top, then the last 20 closed ones. Each line shows the reference, the reason, who reported whom, when, and whether they're still online, with Open and (for open ones) Claim.
The report window
Open shows everything about the report in its own window:
- What happened, in the reporter's words.
- Both players, the reported one and the reporter: name, whether they're on the server now, platform, their side and rank when it was sent, how long they'd been on, and from their player record when they were first seen, sessions, time played, kills, deaths and team kills, and their warnings, mutes, kicks, bans, monitoring flags and staff notes. Steam ID and Bohemia GUID for staff who can see IDs in game (
view_identities). - How many times the reported player has been reported, and how many reports the reporter has sent and how many of those were dismissed.
- The evidence: where they were, how far apart, and the reported player's last kills.
- Who handled it, and their note.
The buttons are at the top:
- Show on Map opens the map with a red pin where the reported player was and an orange pin where the reporter was, at the moment it was sent. Click Close Map on the right side of the map to close it, and the report window comes back.
- Claim marks it as yours, so two staff don't both pick it up.
- Resolve or Dismiss closes it. Both ask for an optional note on what was done, which is kept with the report.
- Reopen brings a closed one back.
- Delete removes it for good. It needs Change the report settings (
edit_reports) and a second click.
Reports about staff
Staff can be reported too, unless you switch that off. A report about a staff member:
- is only shown to staff ranked above them: reports about moderators to admins and owners, reports about admins to owners only, reports about owners to the other owners,
- is never shown to the person it's about,
- never goes to Discord or onto a player record, and the admin log only says one came in.
So nobody can quietly dismiss a report about themselves.
Settings
At the bottom of the tab, for Change the report settings (edit_reports), admins and up to start with:
- whether players can send reports at all,
- whether staff get the pop-up,
- whether staff can be reported,
- the seconds between a player's reports, and the minutes before they can report the same person again,
- how many days closed reports are kept (30 to start with),
- the reasons players pick from (Cheating, Team killing, Abuse or harassment, Griefing, Spam, Other to start with),
- the message the reporter sees after sending one.
Files
Reports/settings.json holds the settings and Reports/reports.json the reports. See Config files.
