Groups

Every group on every side: move players, squad leaders, rename, lock, resize.

Coming in the next Admin Tools update. It's being tested now; this page describes how it works.

The Groups tab shows every group on every side and who's in it. Staff can move players between groups, make someone squad leader, take someone out of a group, and rename, lock or resize a group. It all uses the game's own group system, so players see the changes in their group menu straight away, the same as if a squad leader had done it.

It needs Manage groups (manage_groups), admins and up to start with.

Which scenarios have groups

Groups come from the scenario. Conflict and Combat Ops have them. Some Game Master and custom scenarios don't, and then the tab says there's nothing to manage.

The tab

It's laid out like Online Players. The left side lists everyone, under their side and group:

  • each group is a row with its callsign (and custom name), how many players it has out of how many it holds, and whether it's public or private,
  • its players sit indented under it, marked Squad leader or Member, plus their staff rank if they have one,
  • players on a side who aren't in a group are under Not in a group, and players who haven't picked a side yet are under No side yet.

The search box finds players or groups by name. The list refreshes every 5 seconds while the tab is open, and only redraws when something actually changed.

Pick a player or a group on the left, and what you can do shows on the right.

A player

The right side shows their side, their group and whether they lead it, then:

  • Make Squad Leader of (group): the old leader stays in the group. If they already lead it, it says so instead.
  • Make Squad Leader of a Group..., for someone in no group: pick a group and they're moved in and made its leader in one go.
  • Move to Another Group... (Put in a Group... for someone in no group): a list of the other groups on their side. Pick one, or A new group of their own. Full groups are marked full.
  • Put in a New Group of Their Own: straight into a brand new group on their side.
  • Take Out of Group: they can join another from the game's group menu.

Their group's settings are underneath, so you don't have to go and find the group.

A move stays on the player's side. The game won't put someone in another side's group, so change their side first on Online Players or the dashboard's Player Manager.

A group

The right side shows its side, players, who can join and its squad leader, then:

  • Choose Squad Leader...: a list of everyone in the group. The old leader stays in it.
  • Rename Group...: a name everyone sees in the group menu. Leave it blank to go back to the callsign. Like vanilla, the name is cleared if the squad leader changes.
  • Make Private / Make Public: private groups need an invite. Some scenarios fix this for their groups, and then the button isn't there.
  • Change Size...: how many players it can hold, up to 64. 0 means no limit. It can't go below how many are in it now.
  • Leader Can Change Group Settings: ON / OFF: switch it off and the squad leader can't change the group's name, type (public or private), leader, description, radio frequency or flag from the game's group menu. Their Group settings button disappears, and the server refuses the change even if something sends it anyway. That goes for staff leading the group too; staff change it from this tab instead. The lock lasts until you switch it back on or the server restarts.

Whole server

Always at the bottom of the right side:

  • Players Can Make Groups: ON / OFF: whether players can create groups themselves from the group menu. Staff can still make them from here either way.
  • Squad Leaders Can Change Group Settings: ON / OFF: the same lock for every group at once. It's the game's own switch, which normally only hides the button; the server now refuses the change too.
  • New Empty Group for (side): one per side. It stays until someone joins it and then leaves again.

Who gets told

Moved players, new squad leaders and removed players get a message from the staff member who did it. Doing it to yourself sends nothing.

The same rank rule applies as everywhere else in the panel: you can't move, promote or remove someone ranked the same as you or higher, unless you're an owner. Everything goes in the admin log (actions) and to Discord as an admin action, if you have that switched on.

On the dashboard

The server's manage page on reforgedmin.com has a Group Manager tab too. It shows each side's groups and players, with the same buttons. It works from the player list the server sends while the page is open, so it only shows groups with at least one player. To start a new group from the dashboard, pick A new group of their own when moving someone.

Files

Nothing is saved. Groups belong to the running session, the same as in vanilla.
