Environment
Time, weather, rain, fog and wind for the whole server.
The Environment tab controls the time and weather for the whole server: the clock, how fast it runs, the weather type, rain, fog, wind and how wet the ground is. It needs Change the time and weather (edit_environment). Owners and admins have it by default, moderators don't.
Right now
The top card shows what the world is doing this second, and updates every second:
- the time, and how fast it's passing (or that the clock is stopped)
- the weather, and whether it's being held
- rain, fog and ground wetness, as percentages
- wind speed and direction
Copy Into The Form fills every field below with those live values. It's the easy way to start: copy, change the one thing you want, tick it, Apply.
How the form works
Each part has its own tick box. Only ticked parts get applied. Anything unticked is left to the scenario, so you can override just the fog and leave the rest alone.
Press Apply and the ticked parts go on the world straight away, for everyone. The form is saved at the same time.
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Set the time | Jumps the clock to the hour and minute you enter |
| Change how fast time passes | 1 is real time, 2 is twice as fast (a 12 hour day), up to 60 |
| Stop the clock | Time stands still until you untick it and Apply again |
| Set the weather | Changes to the weather type you pick, straight away or over a number of in-game minutes |
| Keep it | Holds that weather so it doesn't change by itself |
| Override the rain | Sets the rain from 0 to 100%, whatever the weather says |
| Override the fog | Sets the fog from 0 to 100% |
| Set how wet the ground is | Sets it once. After that it dries or soaks up rain like normal |
| Override the wind | Wind speed in metres per second (0 to 40) and direction in degrees |
Time presets
Six buttons fill in the hour and minute for you: Sunrise, Morning, Midday, Afternoon, Sunset and Midnight. Sunrise and sunset are worked out for your map's location and today's in-game date, so they're right on every terrain and in every season. The presets only fill the form in, so press Apply to use them.
Weather types
The weather buttons come from the map itself, so you'll see whatever that terrain has (clear, cloudy, overcast, rainy, stormy and so on), with Game Master's own icons. Rain, fog and wind overrides go on top of whichever weather is active.
Giving it back
Unticking a part and pressing Apply hands that part back. Rain, fog and wind go back to following the weather, and held weather is allowed to change again. Only things the admin tools took over get handed back, so this never undoes something the scenario set up itself.
Hand It All Back unticks everything and applies in one go.
After a restart
Tick Put this back every time the server starts and the saved form is applied again as the server starts. Use it to always start at 10:00 with clear skies, or to keep a foggy server foggy.
The form lives in Environment/environment.json, next to the rest of the mod's files. See Config files.
Logging
Every Apply goes in the admin log and to Discord's Admin used an action event, with a summary of exactly what changed, for example:
ozzie changed the environment: time 06:12, weather Rainy over 20 min (held), fog 40%
